We also check to make sure you aren't "selling yourself short" in the deal - either on the total price, or on particular items of exchange. We understand that our role is not to "kill the deal" but we don't believe there's harm in taking a "bend but don't break" approach to a transaction. When the other party is willing to negotiate, there is enough leeway to negotiate without worrying that the other side will walk away. Often when parties do walk away at the first point of negotiation, it shows they were not serious, or that they were about to rip you off and were only going to do the deal on that basis. Either way, we make sure that doesn't happen to you.
